Why we're building LetSorted

I came to the UK as an immigrant. I know from experience how hard it is to rent when you don't yet fit the boxes a system expects — no long credit history, no UK references, everything about you looking unfamiliar to whoever's making the decision.

I also watched the market from the other side. The Renters' Rights Act changed the rules for landlords overnight — more responsibility, more risk, less room for error. And the people who feel that most aren't the big agencies. They're the small landlords managing a handful of properties themselves.

There's no shortage of software for landlords — there are dozens of tools. But I couldn't find a single one that handled the whole thing for a self-managing landlord: finding and screening a tenant, moving them in with a proper paper trail, staying compliant, and standing up if it ever goes to court. Every tool did a slice. None closed the loop.

So that's what we're building. A product for the landlord who does it themselves — that screens tenants on what actually matters (can they afford it, are they reliable) rather than penalising anyone with a thin file, and that protects the landlord with an evidence trail at every step.

I'll be honest about one more thing. I don't think letting agents are a necessary part of this process. For a landlord whose properties are within reach, most of what an agent charges for can be done better — and far cheaper — with the right software. My aim is to build the tool that makes that true end to end: from finding a tenant to, if it ever comes to it, the courtroom.

That's the long version of why LetSorted exists. We're early, and we're building it properly.
