Market data

The official figures we use on rents, house prices and interest rates, each with its source, its period and the date it was published. You can download every series below and reuse it under its licence.

How the figures are gathered

Once a month, on the 26th, we read each series from the publisher’s own file: the UK House Price Index from HM Land Registry, private rents from the Office for National Statistics, and Bank Rate from the Bank of England. The council tax figure is entered by hand from the government’s yearly release, with its link and date.

Figures are never edited after they are stored. A new month, or a revision of a month already published, is added as a new row with its own publication date, and the latest publication of each month is the one shown.
